Korean Food

Due to the popularity of my ONE reference about Korean food in this weekend's message, so many people have asked what I order and where I go.

Since Inquiring Minds want to know, I attached a picture. I don't have a specific preference about where I get my Korean food, but Farm Market (Korean Grocery Market) has a great and inexpensive menu. But be careful, man!!! When they say spicy, it's SPICY!!!!!

Be Strong and Courageous (part 2)

When someone is filled with worry it usually doesn’t help to say, “You just need to stop worrying and relax!”  When a person is afraid it usually doesn’t help to say, “Don’t be afraid!”  It is tempting to hear these words from God to Joshua in the same way when God states, “Be strong and very courageous. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go (1:6).”

God is not asking Joshua to merely “suck it up!”  He is telling him that he can have courage because God has already guaranteed victory.   God didn’t tell Joshua that it was going to be easy.  He told him that he would succeed by the strength of the Lord. We can face most anything if we can but remember that we are children of God.  The strong arms of God hold us up.  The matchless wisdom of God leads us forward.  The unfailing promise of God makes victory sure.

As a followup, my brother-in-law is out of the hospital and doing well. God is true to His word and He has not failed us!

Happy Birthday, Mil

Mil,

How can I measure my love for you? In the cups of coffee you bring me every morning? In the minutes in between church and household chores? In soft words of love and encouragement you've given me in the past two difficult years? I don' t know. I don't know if I'll ever know how to measure my love for you.

What I do know is my heart is yours. I'm so grateful that God spared your life many times over... Lord knows I wouldn't be able to do what I do without you. Another year of life awaits us and I'm privileged to call you my wife and best friend.

Don't worry. One day the kids will be gone and it'll be just you and me! Quiet and clean house with no attitude or teenagers. Ahhhhh, I can't wait. You and me have a date tonight to celebrate your 21st birthday (come on, Mil! I ain't going to reveal your REAL age!).

Be Strong and Courageous

Life is filled with challenges.  It’s just the way it is. I'm in the hospital with my brother-in-law Ivan at this very moment?! We weren't expecting him to get gravely sick, but he has. This is what I rest in:

You can’t know victory unless you have faced the challenge of defeat.
You won’t appreciate joy until you have endured heartache.
You will not understand compassion until you have needed it from another.
You don't appreciate life until you begin to lose it.

How we face the challenges of life will determine whether we are overcome by fear or become over-comers by faith. In Joshua 1:6  God commanded Joshua, "Be strong and courageous."  As we face the challenges of life, God wants us to know that He has not left us to fend for ourselves. He is with us.  We do not have to rely on our own strength, because God has given us His strength through the indwelling of His Spirit.  The unfailing promise of God makes victory sure.

I know Ivan will come through and his body will heal wonderfully. But a greater lesson in the middle of all of this is that I know my Lord and Savior will not leave me nor forsake us during this trial. We only need to be strong and courageous. If you can, please pray for Ivan and his health!
